FRIZZY IN FLORIDA - DAY ONE

Day One

We are in Orlando!

Jon drove us to the airport this morning at 4:30.

Both of our flights went well. There were a lot of children. We saw at least two families who flew with us all the way from Seattle to Orlando.

The only bad thing was that the second flight gave me a migraine. I’ve had one hovering around, but it exploded at the end of the flight. I got shivers, and had to run off the plane to the bathroom. But I took my pills and it is slowly going away.

Our first impressions as we moved out of the airport. Look it’s sunny! The weather report said partly cloudy or some such thing. That does not mean the same thing in Orlando as it does in Seattle. There are hardly any clouds, and gorgeous sunshine. The weather is warm/hot, it does feel a little balmy. But the humidity is low and it’s not too bad, just enough for someone from Seattle to notice it. The parking garage had pools and tropical plants, sheesh, at the airport parking garage. Off the highway we saw lots of palm trees, and other trees we don’t recognize. We chatted about them as we drove to the hotel. We are super excited we booked the kayaking trip so we can learn about all the plants and animals.

Speaking of driving… they upgraded our car without telling us first! We got a Chevy Malibu. It’s way bigger than the compact we thought we were getting. It’s brand new, and has all the nice amenities. And we weren’t charged at all for the larger car.

Our resort is HUGE! We drove in and it’s all golf course here, fountain there, and row after row of condos. They told us it’s the largest contiguous resort in the world. We only had to listen to a short time share type pitch. Both the woman who checked us in and the sales pitch guy asked us if we were married, which I found funny. Our room is in the “club house” in one of the larger parts of the resort, it feels like a really nice hotel room. It has an awful view, which we kind of expected. We have already made a mess of it, of course.

I had a little lay down, to try and banish the rest of my migraine. We are trying to decide what to do tonight. Our building is right next to one of the pool areas. But we wanted to post a blog, and we have to go to the internet café to do that. We also need to eat dinner. For us it feels like 4:44 as I write this. But really its 7:44 here and things will start to close in just over an hour. Ah! Priorities.
